backyard plums – paintings
these 2 paintings are the first of a series of small “still life” pieces I will be doing. i am working from photographs i took of
fruits and berries that have fallen to the ground. sometimes i alter the arrangement slightly, sometimes there is no need.
a few more of alex
I have photographed a few people practicing asana in the past, and have seen many photos, it is not any easy thing to do without making it look showy.
I think this black and white photo above works in revealing the practice without a “look at what i can do” sort of feel. For me it visually translates the way I
feel when I am moving through different asanas with my eyes closed; a brightness in the emptiness.
Alex changed into more traditional Indian clothing for these last few photos. He had purchased them on a recent trip to Indiana. He lit up when he spoke
of the trip, and the change of dress made sense on him. He had brought along his harmonium for the shoot, and again as he played and sang you can see
the joy and peacefulness that became him.
new blog!
Thanks to Jenny Medford at websy daisy I have a new blog.
I hope that this new blog with it’s bigger images will inspire me to post more often.
Below is the first image I will share from a photo session I did with my friend Alex. He is about to graduate from college and move to an Ashram in Colorado.
A big move for such a young person. I would question his decision, but after spending time with him you can tell it is the right one. He is filled with love and
peaceful desires. It was a pleasure photographing him, talking about mantras and meditation.
